Sexy Parodius

Sexy indeed, yeah baby! Well, for some. The whole idea of something being sexy to the Japanese, and the rest of the world as well has yet to be established. If exaggerated cartoony looking characters with little or no clothing in bathtubs is your bag, Sexy Parodius is your game.

There are 9 levels which are somewhat mixed up depending on how you finish each. Each level has a specific goal for you to finish whether it's collecting 300 coins or killing 10 robots etc. The weapons system is beautifully done providing you with plenty of options and powerups as well as a bonus weapons offering with the colored bells.

The bells are the key to this game. Each golden bell is worth an amount of points depending on how many times you hit it, and will change color offering you a unique weapon powerup. Mastering the bells goes a long way towards mastering the game. I've managed to hit the bells until PURPLE (capsule) mode right at the beginning of the game to give my character full weapons with shield before ever really getting started. This gives you the chance to plow through the level blasting the hell out of everything in site for massive scoring.

Sexy may not be Radiant Silvergun or Shienryuu, but it never at any moment tries to be. Sexy brings a lighthearted, unique gaming twist to the genre, which is more than welcomed. The bosses are funny, the characters are varied with a wide range of weapons for each, the levels are well planned out, and most importantly, the game's replay value is very high. Make sure you go to the options menu and give yourself plenty of lives as well as learning which buttons are rapidfire.

As far as the Hentai aspect of this game, I never really felt like this game went overboard on that front. There are semi-naked girls littered throughout in bathtubs and such, but nothing in the Tentacle Arena (haw). There's a bonus boss attack level which is extremely hard where you get to uncover a picture of a naked woman, but that's about as far as this game goes. I don't think it's offensive at all, and some may even find it kinky.

Overall Sexy Parodius is a complete shmup with tons of eye-candy and rock solid gameplay throughout. Highly recommended. Don't forget to plug in your s-video cable for this one!!!
