Help needed on Every Saturn Boxes

Postby Madroms » Sun Jan 06, 2013 6:03 pm

I am compiling some information about Every Saturn and I need some information that can be found on the box, mainly barcodes and serial numbers. I have some of the European boxes but unfortunately, there are stickers just on the barcodes :( I think this is because mine have been bought in France and they put a replacement barcode on top of the one printed on the box.

Does anyone could help me by providing pictures of the barcodes + box (to know where they come from) ? and eventually sticker of the console itself (the one on the back with serial numbers) + version of the bios ?

I am also looking for information about the European Saturn pack-in game(s). Do they have specific serial numbers somewhere ? Replacement barcode ? 671-XXXX serial number on the big sticker that advertise the game(s) pack(s)-in / on the big sleeve (for command & conquer pack-in ?

Thanks for any help.

Here is the WIP list btw: http://www.satakore.com/list_of_sega_sa ... nsoles.php
All of the models that I know of are listed. More than excepted to be honest :D
I will add sooner all the minicovers.
In yellow BG: all the missing information that we need to find.
People must check their boxes for all the versions, as they are probably alternate revisions of boxes marked with specific serials.

Here are examples of what we need (photo of the front cover of the box could be better):

1) Sega Saturn European Model 1 Long Box, no sticker on the front:
Image
As you can see, a sticker has been added just on top of the barcode printed on the box.

Official Serial of the box: MK-80200-50
Barcode: 4974365000172
Box Serial (671- serial): 671-6683B
No Sleeve
Saturn Unit Serial (not pictured, the one at the back of the console): MK-80200-50
Pack-in games: None

2) Sega Saturn Europen Model 2 Square Box, french sticker on the front (1 demo disc included):

And another sticker has been added just on top of the barcode printed on the box.

Official Serial of the box: 0080221-52 (instead of MK-80221-52 ??)
Barcode: 4974365000387
Box Serial (671- serial): Unknown, not visible, probably under the sticker
No Sleeve
Saturn Unit Serial (not pictured, the one at the back of the console): MK-80200A-50
Pack-in games: Sega Flash vol 2 EUR

3) Sega Saturn Japanese Skeleton Derby Stallion:
Image
Official Serial of the box: HST-0022
Barcode: 4974365000530
Box Serial (671- serial): 671-9871A
No Sleeve
Saturn Unit Serial (not pictured, the one at the back of the console): HST-3220
Pack-in games: None

If the box has also a sleeve, we need the information for the sleeve AND the box.

It seems they are much more consoles that we sought, this information let us know more precisely how many they are.

Thanks.

Thanks for the pictures!
So the sticker says 3 months free for SSM in german (or dutch ? ), right ?
Do you see anything else that could be special on the box, like specific languages,... ? The serial MK-80208-52 disturbs me. Or if you could make some highres pictures of back and side of the box so I could compare it to the one I have (text on box, screenshots,...).

Btw, could you read under the sticker of the barcode the barcode, MK- and 671- serials printed directly on the box ?

I think so yes, but my knowledge in German isnt absolut :P
No I dont notice anything diffrent and I dont have the 3months free flyer or anything like that either =/
The Serial number is a little hard to read but under the sticker says 671-6583B or 671-6683B but Im pretty sure its the first one.

Thanks, so it seems to be the classic box (PAL model 1 long box), with specific sticker (barcode + promotional stuff).
The 671- S/N must be 671-6683B
Do you see any other text under the sticker apart the 671-6683B and the made in indonesia ? I don't know if there is the MK- serial on the top left corner. And if you can guess the 3 last number of the printed barcode under the sticker (172 probably), that will be great.

With your console, I am now pretty sure the -52 suffix is for German consoles (when -18 is used for German games).

Great news !

I was always expecting a hardware section on the site.
I would like to help.
Unfortunately you post your article the 13th...
the day all my Saturn were taken by the moving guys (I'm moving).
I will have my stuffs back in April.
What about the devkits? Do you need references for them?
And the Gold Saturn (Japanese SegaNetSaturn)?
I think after that, having all hardwares stuffs (controllers, cardridges, and crazy accessories~!) would be great too.

Good luck with that.

Is that the same Saturn machine that came in that box? Just cause the machine says made in taiwan while the box is made in indonesia, and I've found that the boxes location usually matches the saturns... and the majority of model 1 PAL units were made in indonesia.

Accessories database will be the next one.
I don't plan to make a specific database for devkits for now, but reference are interesting for future use.
And this gold saturn, only a test/promo one, or only a myth. I never saw a confirmation of its existence. Do you have anything on it ?

I am reworking the database to include more information:
- Made in
- Barcode on sticker or printed
- packin games in separate field
- type of box in separate field
As I worked today (as expected), I will update the online list the next week-end, sorry for the delay.
